Our Process
At Shapes in Space, we believe in making the process of commissioning bespoke furniture as smooth and collaborative as possible. Here’s what you can expect when you work with us:

1
Initial Enquiry
Get in touch with the details of your project.
It helps to know the type of space, rough dimensions, location, budget range and timeline, but don't worry if you're still at an early stage.
We're happy to talk things through before anything is fixed.
For larger fitted projects we can arrange a site visit where needed.
2
Scope & Budget Estimate
Based on the information provided, we create a basic model and outline layout to determine general scope and pricing.
At this stage:
-
Detailed 3D visuals aren't produced
-
Final joinery details aren't resolved
-
No material orders are placed
This allows us to provide a realistic budget estimate without committing to full design development.
3
Quotation
If the scope is suitable, we issue a written quotation outlining:
-
Estimated material costs
-
Fabrication
-
Installation
-
Lead time
Quotes are valid for a limited period due to material pricing fluctuations.
4
Deposit & Design Development
To proceed, an initial deposit is required.
Typically:
-
A 60% deposit to secure the project and begin detailed design
-
Remaining balance due prior to or on installation
-
After deposit paid we begin:
-
Full CAD development
-
Detailed 3D modelling
-
Final material specification
-
Production drawings
5
Manufacture
Following design sign-off:
-
Materials are ordered
-
Production begins in our Manchester workshop
-
Progress updates are provided at key stages
Lead times vary depending on project size and complexity.
6
Installation
Installation is arranged at a pre-agreed date.
Final balances must be cleared before or on installation day unless otherwise agreed in writing.
All completed work is reviewed on site to ensure quality and accuracy.
